Creator Talk is a series by Cora Music featuring interviews and conversations with creators about how they work, think, and stay creative behind the scenes.
Building a YouTube channel isn’t about big productions. For Trucker Cassie, with over 140,000 subscribers, it’s about sharing everyday life and using music to set the mood.
Cassie didn’t plan to become a trucking vlogger
“I started my YouTube channel because I wanted to share the videos I had made back then, which were a few gaming clips.
My first trucking vlog was actually recorded as a pilot for a TV show that never happened. So I ended up editing it and uploading it to YouTube instead. I never thought trucks as a topic would become so popular, but over time my channel has evolved to focus mainly on the trucking profession.”
The routine that keeps her channel growing
Staying active in the comments section is a big part of Cassie’s routine.
“I try to reply to comments so that viewers feel seen. It’s fun that so many have followed my channel for such a long time now!
"Some give feedback on what they want to see more or less of, and I try to adjust as best I can. It’s also important to upload videos fairly often. For me, that’s about one video every other week, though it really should be more.”
Music isn’t just background noise
Many creators search for the best music for YouTube creators without knowing what they actually need. This YouTuber focuses on feeling first. For Cassie, it’s a way to carry the story.
“Music feels important, even obvious, in my videos. It helps me convey emotions and lifts the parts where I’m not talking to the viewers. It’s great to get comments saying I’ve made good music choices for my videos.”
How she thinks about the music in her videos
“I often know the vibe I want for each part of the video. I use keywords like ‘Summer,’ ‘Drive,’ or ‘Gothenburg’ to search. Then I scroll until I get that ‘Yes!’ feeling."
"I like many different styles, but for my videos, a track can’t be ‘too much.’ It’s about finding the right balance.”
I hope more YouTubers find Cora Music!
How Cora Music makes it easier for her
“It’s so easy to use! And you can ‘see’ what a track is like before you even hit play. And of course, getting to use copyrighted music on YouTube! It has really lifted my videos. Plus, I avoid the headache of getting a copyright claim on a video I uploaded two years ago just because a song’s rights changed."
"My favourite artists from the Cora Library is Miss Li and Smith & Thell. I hope more YouTubers find Cora Music!”
Clear focus, regular uploads, and the right music
One thing Cassie learned early growing her YouTube channel was to separate gaming from vlogging.
“You need a clear theme and style for your channel. At first, I uploaded both gaming videos and vlogs but realized it was better to create a separate channel for gaming.”
Her videos made viewers become truck drivers
“I don’t think I have a specific person who inspires me. It’s more a drive to experience new things and share my reflections on life.
Several people have reached out to tell me they became truck drivers after watching my videos. It feels amazing that I can be a source of inspiration! It motivates me to keep creating videos.”
